Why I have been suspiciously absent for the last 5 months

I know I've been pretty scarce around here for the last wee while. There are lots of things that have distracted me from blogging - work is busy, my little sister got married a few weeks ago, there's lots of other stuff going on - but one big thing I've been keeping secret.

My moniker here is Mrs Cake - but really that's a bit misleading, it should be Ms Cake. Except that Mr Cake proposed to me in November - on the night I came home from the inaugural New Zealand Food Bloggers' Conference - so in September I will become Mrs Cake for real. ;-)

We've only just announced it - so I had to keep it under wraps here too. And unfortunately for this poor little blog, gazing at pretty wedding photos and imagining the possibilities for our celebration can suck up a lot of time (very enjoyably, I might add, it's not like I'm suffering - it just means I haven't been baking so much).

I will still blog here (I still gotta eat, after all!) but since I have wedding brain I've decided to dedicate a blog to that obsession, so if you're interested in weddingy stuff feel free to follow my train of thought over at The Wedding Hacker - and if you're not I'll try not to mention too much here. Just thought I should let you all know. :-)

Congratulations!!! I hope that you will have lots of fun planning the wedding, I'll come and check the other blog because I like all party stuff, even if I don't need to get married. And on that last though, funny to think that I have been married for many years now but I am still a Ms, and before there I was never a Miss, always a Ms! I guess that I am an Italian feminist
:-)

Ciao

Congrats! Very exciting, of course the food will clearly be an important part of the wedding preps, so hoping to hear about that - and of course, the cake!!

Alessandra, thanks! There's definitely a bit of feminist in me too - I've chosen not to have an engagement ring, we will both just have wedding bands.

Kate, thanks - food is definitely pretty important, though I was very happy to outsource most of it (including the cake, which is a stressful thing to tackle even for other people's weddings)! :-)

Congratulations! How exciting for you both. You must be a very good secret-keeper to keep that kind of news under wraps for so long!

Congrats Rosa! That's really, really great news (and wedding-brain is a totally legitimate excuse for not blogging as often).

Getting married is about as far away from my mind as a trip to Antarctica (it could happen sometime, not ruling it out, sounds fun but not really planning to anytime soon) but I'm really happy for you and will overcome my wedding-phobia to check out your new blog, too :)

Thanks ladies - I've felt so sneaky these last few months, especially since I saw you all right before it happened. Glad the secret is out! And you can bet I'll love every moment of planning (and the wedding), Julie! ;-)

Aaaaah Rosa congratulations!!! I am so very excited for you!!! I got engaged just over a month ago myself - I absolutely know what you mean about wedding brain!! It's very very hard to think about anything else. Yay!! I just had a bit of a squeal when I read this - we haven't even met yet, but I already feel like you're a semi distant friend!! xx

Congrats! I'm much the same, I'm getting married this Saturday in fact. I felt a bit guilty about neglecting my blog for a bit, but even for a simple wedding the planning can be a bit time-consuming. It's so cool you started a separate blog for it, i could have used the tips earlier. :P

Wow, congratulations Linno! Sorry my new blog wasn't better timed for you - maybe you can provide your own wisdom though. :-) All the best for Saturday!
